Flat Fee Payroll is designed for the small business by someone who runs a small business. When I do business I am a firm believer that everybody involved has to win or it won’t work in the long run. Maybe I am missing a few extra bucks but I believe in building something that can last.
My experience in going to a national chain was that I asked what the costs were until I was blue in the face and never really got an answer. I set up a payroll account and gave the company a ton of information. When I went to do my first payroll, I estimated the costs based on what I was told. I was shocked when their fees were more than I was paying my receptionist. Worse yet, I was then bombarded with a bunch of information about various accounts I was supposed to set up myself (or pay them more fees). It seemed to never end. I had plenty of other things to worry about in my busy season and hiring a receptionist seemed to cause more work than I was saving.
When I eventually did my own payroll and started to do the payroll for customers, I developed the concept of a simple fee structure and doing all of the setup work ourselves. We do need occasional signatures but for the most part our customers give us the employees’ information and hours and we take it from there. We have a variety of ways to deliver the pay and information. We even handle Direct Deposit.
What is even better, we have a small group of people handling payroll and you will get to know who is handling your payroll. No toll-free numbers, phone trees, bad connections and all that comes with large, faceless corporations (including excessive fees).
